In a significant step toward empowering young voices in climate advocacy, our Executive Chairman, Tika Ram Poudel, joined climate dialogue event titled “The Role of Gandaki’s Youth in Tackling Climate Change,” organized by The Kathmandu Post in collaboration with the Gandaki Province Policy and Planning Commission and Purak Asia, and supported by the Nepalese Young Entrepreneurs Forum (NYEF), Pokhara Chapter.

Youth entrepreneur and waste management expert, Mr. Poudel highlighted the disconnect between national climate strategies and their implementation at the local level and calling for more inclusive and localized climate policies in Gandaki Province. Drawing from his hands-on experience in healthcare and solid waste management, he pointed out that municipal-level policies often overlook youth participation, preventing innovative, community-driven solutions. He stressed that youth enthusiasm is a powerful driver of climate action and advocated for the establishment of a provincial youth council to coordinate youth involvement in climate adaptation and emphasized the importance of fostering youth-led climate-friendly enterprises.

The dialogue also featured voices from various sectors, including climate researcher Orchid Rosy Puri and Vice Chair of the Planning Commission Krishna Chandra Devkota who shared their experiences and called for collaborative efforts to address climate change. This event mark the beginning of a series of climate dialogues planned across Nepal’s seven provinces, aiming to amplify youth voices and influence climate policies at all levels.
